Flight Dispatcher Training

A Flight Dispatcher requires a vocational training provided by private bodies such as the ESMA and recognized by aviation sector companies.

The training includes a short theoretical session during which school instructors train the future agents on procedures and regulations, air navigation, meteorology and teach them how to use the aviation computer system, etc. This training is not a competitive examination but a continuous assessment validated by an internship. This experience can regularly results in a job offer.

The Flight Dispatcher training requires a fluent English speaking. You must also have a clean Criminal Record. Realise your training at the ESMA and give you all the chances to get your diploma.

Flight Dispatcher – The job

A Flight Dispatcher does not work at the airport but at the airline headquarter. They prepare flights and manage all hazards which could intervene. The Flight Dispatcher works according to the flights schedules and thus work staggered and variable hours including during the weekends and holidays.

Flight Dispatchers can progress professionnally as Station Manager in an airline or an airport. Furthermore, thanks to their versatile training or by following a continuous training, they can follow other job orientations still in ground staff or even as Commercial Pilot.

They will have to speak English as they are in contact with all other airport actors.

Postgraduate Education

The Flight Dispatcher training requires a A-Level to submit an application. However, a scientific educational background is recommended and a pilot theoretical licence is appreciated. Training sessions after the High School are offered all year round in aviation schools such as the ESMA. Trainees will have to be 18 years-old minimum and give a clean police record to take up a position as intern in an airline and then to work right after the training at ESMA. It is also essential to master the English language to be a Flight Dispatcher.

Following the theoretical training and the internship, trainees will receive the Flight Dispatcher diploma, which allow them applying immediately in airline.
