Ramp Agent Training

A Ramp Agent requires a vocational training provided by private bodies such as the ESMA and recognized by aviation sector companies.

The training includes a short theoretical session during which the school instructors train the future agents on flight management application, and teach them aviation regulation, registration process, etc. This training is not a competitive examination but a continuous assessment validated by an internship. This experience can regularly result in a job offer.

The Ramp Agent training requires a fluent english speaking and good health conditions.

Ramp Agent – The job

The Ramp Agent works directly on the airport runway. They are in charge of aircraft handling before the take-off and after the landing. The profession involves variable and staggered hours of work including weekends and holidays providing bonuses to the basic salary.

A Ramp Agent works in an airport area, on the runway, in all-weather conditions with a small team: for every flight only 2 to 4 Ramp Agents intervene.

A Ramp Agent can progress professionnally as Team Manager or Supervisor for management missions. Furthermore, thanks to their versatile training or by following a continuous training, they can follow other job orientations still in ground staff.

They will have to speak English as they are in contact with other airport staff.

Postgraduate Education

The ESMA aviation school offers postgraduate training sessions for Passenger Service Agent during the whole year. The applicants must provide a certificate for at least their final year of secondary school. We can receive applications without having the minimum level of studies if the candidates has an experience in the aviation environment. Various training sessions are offered all-year long. Trainees will have to be 18 years-old minimum to take up a position as intern in an airline and then to work right after the training. It is also essential to master the English language to be a Ramp Agent.

Following the theoretical training and the internship, trainees will receive the Ramp Agent diploma, which allow them applying immediately in airline or ground-handling company.
