Turnaround Coordinator Job Description

The Turnaround Coordinator works within an airport for a ground-handing company. They plan the aircraft loading and unloading according to flight mass and balance specificities. They establish documents for the Captain and the flight dossier. They are also in charge of supervising the various platform staff, passengers boarding and disembarking, fuel supply, catering and all flight departure essential services. The Turnaround Coordinators manage a whole team of Runway Agents in charge of the aircraft following its recommendations. They have to take good decisions to not threaten the passengers safety, and guarantee the plane on time departure.

Training and Prerequisites

The Turnaround Coordinator job is a technical position for which it is necessary to master English and mathematics mainly. The requested minimum level is a A-Level and it is necessary to be 18 years-old to enter the training. We can receive applications without having the minimum level of studies if the candidates has an experience in the aviation. In this case, an interview will be conducted with the educational training team at the ESMA.

The Flight Dispatcher’s salary in France according to the employer is fixed between 1 700€ and 2 000€ (gross) per month. Due to their staggered working hours on irregular days, Flight Dispatchers receive bonuses and allowances which allow them to value their basic salary.

Turnaround Coordinator Training

The training is realized only with other job training. Trainees can be prepared to become Flight Dispatcher or Passenger Service Agent and Ticket Desk Agent along with the Turnaround Coordinator training. During 10, 12 or 14 weeks of theoretical courses, our professional instructors teach them meteorology, air loading procedures and rules, flight data, security rules, etc. Trainees are at the ESMA in real working conditions. At the end of these 5 theoretical weeks, they have acquired all necessary requirements to realize their internship of 3 or 4 weeks in a company. The internship is compulsory to validate the initial training.
