Airways Aviation Academy – ESMA
Airways Aviation Academy – ESMA is the only multidisciplinary aviation school in Europe. We have been operating as ESMA since 1988, and we offer training in two major aviation sectors:
- Airline Pilots
- Cabin Crew
Located by the Mediterranean Sea, Airways Aviation Academy – ESMA enjoys a perfect climate to fly, with around 300 days of sunshine per year. Montpellier is currently the 8th French city in terms of population, and the 3rd Mediterranean city after Marseille and Nice. It’s the most populated city of the Herault Department and the second of the Languedoc-Roussillon-Midi-Pyrénées region after Toulouse.
For the last 30 years, Montpellier has been very attractive for its quality of life, its culture, and the Mediterranean climate. Montpellier has seen some of the most growth in France in terms of economy and demography.
With 70, 000 students, it’s also the second city with the highest number of students per capita, and the 7th university pole in France. The social diversity is also applicable to ESMA, which is a rewarding experience for our students.

The ESMA campus is constructed on more than 11,000 sqm and comprises of the following:
- Flight simulators: We currently have four flight simulators used by our pilot students to simulate flights in all conditions during their training.
- Cabin Crew Hall: Airways Aviation Academy – ESMA is certified as the official exam center by the French Civil Aviation. It offers both theoretical and practical CAA training in Montpellier. We use the scale model B747 cabin and ATR CRJ F100, A320, A340 / B747 doors and evacuation slide.
- Additionally, there is a wide variety of activities in the neighboring communities of Lattes, Perols, and Mauguio.
- ESMA Aero-campus: Our campus is present on the school premises. Every studio is 20m2 and is completely furnished with a bed, desk, chair, kitchen, and bathroom. It is fully equipped to ensure the needs you may require in your bedroom and kitchen. Campus housings are as a studio apartment or one bedroom apartment that are conveniently located in the airport area, areten minutes aways from Montpellier city center by bus, and have direct access to Airways Aviation Academy – ESMA.
