Why did you choose to train with Airways Aviation?

I chose to train with Airways Aviation as I was in the unique position of having to find an flight school that would have the flexibility to enable me to undertake ATPL ground school whilst also completing my university studies. Compared to other organisations I considered, Airways was able to offer me a huge amount of support, even before enrolling. This support has continued the whole way through my training.

The standard of training and way in which it is delivered here has far surpassed my expectations.

Without Airways I’m not sure I’d be in the position I’m in now.

What do you enjoy most about being a student at Airways Aviation?

The characters! I had heard horror stories about the hell of ATPL ground school, but the people here have made last 8 months an amazing experience. It’s difficult to not sound too cliché, but we’re all like a big family here in Oxford – from my fellow class mates to the instructors and the ops team, we all get on very well.

We all offer each other a huge amount of support in and out of the classroom, making this challenging time not only bearable but also enjoyable.

What did you do before you started training?

Before enrolling at Airways Aviation I studied Airline and Airport Management at Buckinghamshire New University.

What advice would you give to anyone considering training as a pilot?

My big piece of advice is everywhere, and that’s because it’s so important; do your research! Speak to students, pilots, instructors and recruiters.

The more informed and prepared you are the more enjoyable you will find the whole training experience and the more you will get out of it!

Remember there is more than one route to the flight deck, and there is no right or wrong way (either in terms of where or how you complete your training)

A good ATO will be able to offer you support the whole way through your training journey, from your first hour in the classroom to your last hour in the cockpit. Remember to stop, look around, and appreciate what you’re doing. It will all be over in the blink of an eye!
